Twelve days in, and we now have 24 minutes of music, which is slightly more than halfway to the "end". Next week, we begin "Side Two" (I still think of albums as though they're on vinyl).
Even though these 4 tracks still need some work and some clean-up, there is a certain consistency that is starting to emerge from them: depth, intensity, authenticity. I'm excited about where this will lead when work continues next week.
Here is today's offering, which is a further development and exploration from yesterday.
As I prepare for the next phase, I would love to hear your thoughts and impressions, both of what we have so far, and of what you'd most like to hear on "Side Two".
Thank you so much for your comments (which you can leave below).
Thank you, John, for pointing that out. I'll go back and listen to the differences in the two mixes. Definitely don't want to lose the crispness. And thanks to everyone else for your comments and suggestions. On we go!
The first thing that struck me was that the opening did not sound as energetic as I remembered Day 11. So I tried listening to the openings of Day 11 and Day 12 and it was my observation that Day 11 sounded crisper and cleaner in the first minute, and the bass notes I referred to at about 1:00 were not as noticeable or interesting on Day 12. Maybe this is all in my imagination
The final two minutes of Day 12 are a nice change (from the first two minutes) and remain engaging.
Perhaps tribute beats for Chick Corea and the first anniversary of Lyle Mays’ passing?
I really like the fun, airy tempo. Very uplifting. I like the direction you're heading.
